Crimson Peak - Edith & Ghost Mother
Crimson Peak - Edith & Ghost Mother
Materials
First and foremost the ghost mother is wrapped with a handmade Crinoline, the structured petticoat designed to hold out a woman's skirt, and then wrapped in layers of fine black fabric and once more with a layer of delicate black lace. Her upper torso is also clad in the same fabric and lace, but she wears a belt made from old purse straps and the end tip of a mens belt. Her head is adorned with a hand-fashioned veil and black rose buds (which were once pink and used on far less gothic pieces of fashion!) and her facial features have been painstakingly painted in by yours truly. Edith is wearing a luxurious Victorian-era nightgown made up of various pieces of thin and silky cloth (probably stolen again from my fashion designer girlfriend...), with hair clipped from another doll's head, but the best part is her candelabrum which has been Frankensteined together out of a paintbrush (no surprise there), a wooden bead and refrigerator magnet at the base, and plastic rings topped with your run-of-the-mill pushpin that hold aloft melted birthday cake candles! The whole ensemble really ties together the romantically gothic elements of Guillermo Del Toro's visionary film.
